The Perfect Iced Tea – A Basic Recipe

Preparation:

Hot brewing


Bring 8 cups of water to a boil; remove from heat and add 3 tablespoons of loose leaf tea or 6 tea bags. Let steep for about 4 minutes until the desired strength is reached. Strain the loose leaf tea through a fine sieve or remove the tea bags. Let cool, then pour into a pitcher, cover, and refrigerate.

Cold brewing


Combine 8 cups of cold water and 6 tablespoons of loose leaf tea or 10 tea bags in a pitcher. Cover and refrigerate for 15-36 hours until the desired strength is reached. Strain the loose leaf tea through a fine sieve or remove the tea bags.

Sweet tea


Combine 3/4 cup of sugar and water in a saucepan, adding 1 infuser of tea if desired. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and let cool. Strain the infused syrup through a fine sieve (you'll get about 1 cup).

Orange - add 6 strips of zest
Blackberry - 1 tbsp.
Cinnamon - 2 sticks
Lavender - 3 tbsp. dried flowers
Vanilla - 1 half pod
Mint - 3 branches
Ginger - 1 cup chopped root
Lemon - 8 strips of zest
Nectarine - 1 cup chopped pulp
Cucumber - 2 cups of chopped cucumbers
