Sesame beef burgers with kimchi mayo

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup chopped kimchi
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 700 g of ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp. l. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil to grease the grill grate
  • 4 sesame seed hamburger buns, split in half on the sides
  • Sliced ​​pickles and/or sweet potato chips, for serving

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Combine the kimchi and mayonnaise in a small bowl and set aside. In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, 1 teaspoon salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Form into 4 patties, 10 cm wide and 2 cm thick.
  2. Brush the grill grates with vegetable oil. Add the patties and cook until grill marks appear on the bottom, about 3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.
  3. Grill the buns. Transfer the patties to the bottom bun halves. Top with kimchi and pickles, then cover with the top bun halves. Serve with chips.
