Hawaiian Pizza on a Campfire

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 1 tube (400 g) chilled pizza dough
  • 4 canned pineapple rings, patted dry
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup diced ham (about 60 g)
  • 0.5 cup grated semi-skimmed mozzarella (about 60 g)
  • Special equipment: square cast iron sandwich maker

Preparation:

  1. Light a campfire or charcoal grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into 8 equal pieces, about the size of a sandwich maker. Open the sandwich maker and place one piece of dough on one half. Add 1 slice of pineapple, 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce, 1 tablespoon of ham, and 2 tablespoons of mozzarella. Place another piece of dough on top and pinch the top and bottom dough together to seal.
  3. Close the sandwich maker and cook over a campfire or grill, turning every 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown, about 8 minutes total, depending on heat.
  4. Transfer the pizza to a plate. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more pizzas.

    Note

If your cast iron sandwich maker is not yet seasoned, spray the inside with cooking spray or lightly brush with vegetable oil before using.
