topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 1 Salad Set with Blue Cheese Dressing and Bacon (350g)
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Coarsely ground black pepper
  • 2 pinches red pepper flakes
  • 2 boneless strip steaks (1-2 cm thick; weighing 170-200 g each)
  • 2 sub sandwich buns, cut in half and toasted
  • Half a small red onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 tomato, sliced into rounds

Preparation:

  1. Place the contents of the salad dressing in a medium bowl and toss to coat with the dressing; set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Combine 1.5 teaspoons of black pepper and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  3. Sprinkle the steaks with salt on both sides and sprinkle with the pepper mixture, pressing firmly to adhere. Place the steaks in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until medium-rare. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly across the grain.
  4. Place the steaks on the buns and top with lettuce, red onion and tomatoes.

    Salad set:
Many bacon and blue cheese salads call for dense greens (like kale), which need to be softened slightly. Dress the salad and let it sit for about 10 minutes before assembling the sandwiches.
