Ingredients:
- 1 and 1/4 cups light rum
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 1 liter of fresh strawberries with stems
- 1 cup granulated sugar
Preparation:
- Combine the rum and lime juice in a large bowl. Prick each berry all over with a toothpick. Place them leaf-side up in a 9x5-inch loaf pan, pressing them together as tightly as possible to keep them upright. Pour the rum mixture over the top and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Strain the rum mixture into a glass for use in the cocktail. Sprinkle sugar on a plate and roll the strawberries in it. Transfer to a serving platter and serve immediately.
- Daiquiri cocktail:
Make a cocktail with the remaining rum. Pour the rum liquid into a pitcher with ice and add 0.5 cups of simple syrup (or to taste), 2 cups of water, a few sprigs of mint, and a few lime slices.
