Oven-baked honey BBQ beef ribs

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup sweet paprika
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2.7 kg beef short ribs (about 8 ribs with bones, cut into 12-15 cm strips)
  • 0.5 cups honey

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C.
  2. In a small bowl, combine paprika, onion powder, 4 tablespoons of salt, oregano, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and a few grinds of black pepper. Rub the mixture over the ribs and let them rest at room temperature for 1-2 hours.
  3. Place the ribs tightly in a baking dish, fat side up. Cover the dish tightly with foil and place another heavy dish on top to ensure a tight seal! Bake in the oven for 2.5 hours, or until the meat is falling off the bone. Remove the ribs from the oven and increase the temperature to 220°C.
  4. Using tongs, flip the ribs over and move them slightly. Drizzle evenly with honey. Return the ribs to the oven, uncovered this time, and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
