Ingredients:
- 1.4 kg of cooked bratwurst sausages (pierce the skin with a fork)
- 6 cups German light beer
- 1 tbsp. caraway seeds
- 1 tbsp. coriander seeds
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- 3 large onions, peeled and coarsely chopped
- 2 whole crushed cloves of garlic
- 1 piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced 8 cm long.
- 2 tbsp. l. canola oil
Preparation:
- Preheat grill to high heat over direct heat.
Combine the beer, cumin, coriander, mustard seeds, onion, garlic, and ginger in a large saucepan. Then add the sausages. Place the pan on the grill grate and bring the liquid to a gentle simmer.
Cook the sausages until half-cooked, about 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the grill and let the sausages sit in the liquid for 30 minutes.
- Transfer the bratwurst to a plate or cutting board and strain the liquid into a bowl, discarding any solids.
Brush the sausages with canola oil and grill until the casings are crispy and golden brown, about 4-6 minutes per side. Keep warm until serving.
