Deep-fried Snickers bars on a stick

Ingredients:

  • 4 large Snickers bars
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 3/4 cup sparkling mineral water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Preparation:

  1. Thread each bar onto a wooden skewer or lollipop stick. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Whisk in the club soda until you have a smooth batter (similar in consistency to pancake batter). Heat a 4-6 inch (10-15 cm) layer of vegetable oil in a deep fryer until a thermometer registers 325°F (166°C).
  3. Holding a Snickers bar by the stick, dip it into the batter and swirl it to coat the surface. Carefully place the bars, sticks included, in the hot oil. Fry until crisp, turning as needed (1.5–2 minutes). Using tongs, remove each bar by the stick. Place on paper towels or a wire rack to drain excess oil and serve warm.
