Cranberry punch "Santa Claus" topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 6 cups lemon-lime sparkling water, such as 7UP (1.5 L)
- 2 tbsp. cranberry juice (0.5 l)
- 1 lime, cut into 4 pieces
- Whipped cream for topping
- 4 maraschino cherries
- Powdered sugar for dusting, optional
- Special equipment: Glue gun and glue sticks; black and white felt; ruler, scissors, 4 1/2-gallon Mason jars, 4 paper straws
Preparation:
- Heat up the glue gun.
- To make Santa's belt, cut four 1.5 x 7.5-inch strips of black felt and round one end of each. To make the belt buckles, cut four 1.7-inch squares from aluminum foil. Cut two slits on both sides of each square. Thread the rounded edge of a felt strip through the slits in one foil square, leaving a slight overhang. Wrap the felt belt around the middle of a 16-ounce mason jar and attach it to the other end with a hot glue gun. Repeat with the remaining three felt strips, foil squares, and mason jars.
- To make Santa's face, use the attached templates and cut out 4 beards and 4 pairs of mustaches from white felt. Alternatively, cut out 4 teardrop shapes from white felt, each 9 cm wide and 12 cm high. Cut a 7 cm diameter hole at the end of each teardrop, leaving a narrow strip at the edge. Cut out four pairs of Santa's mustaches, each 11 cm wide. Glue the mustaches to the top of the beard. Set aside.
- Pour 1.5 cups of lemon soda and 0.5 cups of cranberry juice into each decorated jar. Then squeeze the juice of a quarter of a lime into each jar. Place a beard around the neck of each jar. Top each drink with whipped cream and a cherry. Insert a straw and sprinkle with powdered sugar snow, if desired.
