Ingredients:
- 1 large red onion
- Light vegetable oil, such as peanut, canola, or sunflower oil, for drizzling over the onions
- Steak seasoning or coarse salt and black pepper
Preparation:
- Cut a thin slice from the side of a whole, unpeeled onion. Place it flat on a work surface. Slice the onion into 4 1-inch-thick slices. Remove the outer ring of skin from each slice. Drizzle the sliced onions with vegetable oil and season all sides with steak seasoning or salt and black pepper to taste. Grill on a hot grill or in a nonstick skillet for 5-7 minutes per side, until the onions are tender and beginning to caramelize.
