Baked cinnamon donuts

Ingredients:

    For the donuts:

  • Cooking spray with flour
  • 2 cups premium wheat flour
  • 1.5 cups of sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 very large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 and 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp natural vanilla extract

    For the glaze:

  • 8 tbsp (110 g) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Spray two donut pans generously with baking powder.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  3. Spoon the batter into the pan, filling each pan 3/4 full. Bake for 17 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes, then shake out. donuts on a baking sheet.
  4. For the glaze, melt 8 tablespoons of butter in an 8-inch saucepan. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Dip each donut on one or both sides, first in the butter, then in the cinnamon sugar.
