Ingredients:
Cocktail
- 90 ml of tequila
- 1 tbsp seasoned salt, see below
- 60 ml freshly squeezed lime juice
- 30 ml syrup, recipe follows
- 0.5 - 1 teaspoon orange liqueur
Seasoned salt
- 1/4 cup salt
- Finely grated zest of one lime
- 1/4 tsp chili powder with ancho
- 1/4 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
- Combine all ingredients
Preparation:
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar with 1 cup water. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved (or heat in the microwave). Let cool. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
- Sprinkle a plate with spiced salt. Dip the rim of a chilled margarita glass into the salt, coating the outside of the glass. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, syrup, and orange liqueur.
- Close and shake for about 30 seconds, until combined and chilled (generally, when the shaker begins to fog up, the drink is ready). Strain the Margarita into a prepared glass and serve.
