Ingredients:
- 2 cups cooked black beans, drained and mashed with a fork
- 1 cup spiced breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated onion
- 0.5 tsp chili spice mix
- 1 egg
- Canola oil to grease the grill pan
- 1 - 2 Kaiser rolls
- Arugula, for assembly
- Tomato slices, for assembly
- Mayonnaise, for assembly
Preparation:
- In a medium bowl, mash the beans.
- Add spiced breadcrumbs, grated onion, chili spice mix, an egg and a little salt and black pepper.
- Add some water.
- Form the mixture into one large (or 2 small) patties.
- Place on a plate.
- Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat and add a little canola oil. Add the patties and cook for 4 minutes.
- Turn over and add a slice of cheese, fry for 4 minutes.
- Cover with another pan and let steam for 2 minutes.
- Meanwhile, mix mayonnaise with a splash of hot sauce and spread it on the buns. Serve the vegetarian patties on the buns with arugula and tomato slices.
