Preparation:To make a muffuletta sandwich, take a fluffy, 12-inch round rustic bread and cut off the top third. Scoop out the crumb, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Layer your favorite sandwich ingredients: prosciutto, provolone, turkey, soppressata, and mozzarella, fresh basil, olives, or fried peppers and sliced tomatoes. Pour salad dressing, then replace the top of the bread. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and press it down with a heavy skillet; refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
