Monte Cristo Turkey Sandwich topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp (30 g) butter
- 8 slices challah or 1 cm thick brioche
- 3 tablespoons mustard
- 170 gr. smoked Gouda cheese, coarsely grated
- 340 gr. cooked turkey breast, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce with whole berries or relisha
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Preparation:
- To make sandwiches: Place the bread on a work surface. Spread mustard on one side of each slice. Divide half the cheese among 4 slices of bread. Top with 1/2 of the turkey and season with salt and pepper to taste. Evenly distribute the cranberries on top and top with the remaining turkey. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Top with the remaining cheese and bread. Press each sandwich lightly into the center. In a rimmed plate or platter, beat the eggs with milk and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Heat two large skillets over medium heat, adding 1 tablespoon each of butter and vegetable oil. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, coating them on all sides. Place them in the skillets. Fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer the sandwiches to a baking sheet and bake until the cheese is melted, about 6–8 minutes.
